Fabulous Set 20 Wild Rose Staffordshire Blue & White Plates G163

Sale price£850.00

A fabulous LARGE set of 20 'Wild Rose' Staffordshire blue and white transferware dinner plates circa 1880. Featuring the distinctive rose pattern border surrounding the central bucolic landscape scene. These were all produced in the Staffordshire potteries in the 1800's and were made by various companies such as J Meir & Sons and Stoke Mayer, as seen on the reverse photos shown. They are all in fabulous condition in that there no chips or cracks at all but as I have accumulated them over several years they all vary slightly so some are slightly different blues and some have a bit of foxing or discolouration to the white ground. The majority are all the same size but there is a set of six which are ever so slightly smaller by about half a centimetre but to all intents and purposes they are the same.  The good thing about this pattern is that it was mass produced so I do come across them, so if you wanted more or wished to replace a broken one then that is very possible. To have a set of 20 is extremely rare and they are a lovely large and therefore very useable size for modern dining - just stunning!
